An IDF spokesman announced that a terror cell responsible for firing a mortar shell at an IDF force was targeted by an IAF aircraft in the southern Gaza Strip. The terrorists, affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, were hit according to the IDF report. No injuries were among IDF forces. The spokesman said that the IDF responded immediately in order to prevent further attacks on Israeli civilians.

The spokesman further said that the IDF views any attack on Israel’s citizens or against the IDF with much severity, and will continue to fight any terror elements.

“Hamas is responsible for all that happens in the Gaza Strip”, the IDF spokesman said.

“Rapid reaction and operational capabilities are key to combating terrorist activities against Israel and our forces,” Lt. Col. Peter Lerner added. “Terrorists must know that there is a price to pay when participating in aggression.”
