Re: Fomenting Anti-Muslim Sentiment, Fred Litwin, Oct. 16. Is it wrong to blend “Islam, the religion, with Islamism, an aggressive political ideology?” Fred Litwin thinks so. but Tayip Recep Erdogan, the president of Turkey, thinks not. He firmly declares: “Islam is Islam.”
What about Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the caliph of the Islamic State of Iraq & the Levant? He got a doctorate in Islamic studies from the university of Baghdad and would surely know Islam. He believes with ISIL their violence is faithfully obeying the commands and teachings and the ways of the Qur’an, the Hadiths and Muhammad himself.
It is written in the Hadith of Sahih bukhari 61:11 “believe in Allah and His messenger and fight valiantly for Allah’s cause (jihad) with both your wealth and your lives!” And in the Qur’an: “Fight those who believe not in Allah, etc.” (9:29). Violence is a constant element of mainstream Islamic theology. Let us not be deceived.
