Jerusalem (TPS) – Israeli President Reuven Rivlin hosted a ceremonial event at his residence on Tuesday evening in which seven new Qadis (judges) were appointed to Israel’s Islamic courts.

“The existence of state-supported Shariah courts in Israel reflects the recognition of the unparalleled importance of the vitality of different communities, cultures, and traditions to the fabric of life in the modern state,” said Rivlin, placing emphasis on the Israeli government’s active support for the Islamic community’s Shariah courts.
