Israeli Public Strongly Condemns Sexual Misconduct Among Its Lawmakers

Israeli lawmakers from all parts of the Israeli political spectrum welcomed the resignation of Interior Minister Silvan Shalom, from the Likud party, accused of several accounts of sexual harassment.

The lawmakers hailed Shalom’s resignation as part of a welcome and ongoing change in Israeli public norms, where public figures no longer continue serving in senior positions when accusations of sexual misconduct arise.

“The resignations of Silvan Shalom and of Yinon Magal before him, are no less than a revolution happening right before our eyes in the Israeli public sphere,” said lawmaker Zehava Galon from the left wing Meretz party on her Facebook page.
