Dismayed with May

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 22, 2013, Toronto — Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May’s upcoming appearance at a fundraiser for Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is being labeled as a naive and
disappointing move.
“Miss May is being naive if she truly thinks that this group is interested
in dialogue,” said Frank Dimant, CEO, B’nai Brith Canada. “Despite its
misleading name, the prime focus of the groups’s activities is on
denigrating the Jewish state. It is this group that was the driving
force behind the misleading and factually inaccurate anti-Israel ads
that appeared in Vancouver earlier this year.
“In public statements, May has expressed her intent to go ahead with
her speaking arrangement in hopes of undertaking a dialogue despite
now learning that it is a fundraiser. Having appeared at the group’s
functions before, she should know that her dialogue has done little to
broaden the perspective of this group. As a result, lending her name
and that of her party to their fundraising efforts will surely only
contribute to their ongoing anti-Israel campaigns.”
