A bill designed to further restrict the employment or harboring of illegal workers in Israel passed its first reading on the evening of Monday, February 22.

The bill is the brainchild of Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan and contains a number of stipulations which will ensure the imposition of heavy fines or prison sentences against individuals who shelter or employ illegal workers.
