Iran: Murder by Prison, Karaj
by Shadi Paveh, gatestoneinstitute.org, June 30, 2014
Prison conditions in the Central Prison of Karaj have become deadly since the previous head of the prison infirmary was replaced by Dr. Pajman Adeli, in February, 2014. According to sources, Dr. Adeli regularly denies medical treatment after visually examining prisoners with “a glance” and declaring them “not in need of medical care.”
In 1955, the United Nations adopted the Standard for Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners.
Presumably, therefore, Dr. Adeli can eventually be tried in an international court for war crimes.
