Re: Trump’s Blitzkrieg Of Mendacity, editorial, June 15.
The National Post’s advocacy of “more sober voices ( urging) calm and a determined response” is exactly the approach that a growing section of the population in North America and in the world has tired of hearing.
For many, it is rife with the Chamberlainisms of appeasement, toothless diplomacy and fear of offending. In other words, the gist of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy in the last eight years. Donald Trump maybe abrasive and prone to hyperbole, but he is tapping into the sentiments of many who see Islam as the common denominator in much of what threatens our way of life.
It’s the chattering classes who seem to be unable to comprehend that a strong direct response is needed as intolerance of our values cannot be met with submissive tolerance of theirs.
