From David Cooke & CitizenGo:
Let me introduce you to a very disheartened family of four – a mother named Morufat, and her three children – Victor (age 16), Hephzibah (age 14), and Rejoice (age 10).
Originally from Nigeria, they fled to Canada just over a year ago to escape the threat of Muslim persecution and to try to secure a new life in a safe and welcoming country.
The mother, Morufat, relates in a recent news article how she had been born into a strong Muslim family in Nigeria. By the grace of God, she was introduced to the Lord Jesus and accepted Him as her Saviour in 1994. Later, she dedicated her life to ministry, serving the church.
Morufat recounts that, in response to her conversion to Christianity, her Muslim father declared a “fatwa” on her. A fatwa is a decree that allows other Muslims to abuse or torture a Christian under Sharia Law.
Because of this fatwa, she feels that she will be unsafe if she is forced to return to Nigeria, even if she resettles in the southern Christian region of the country. She simply desires to stay in Canada and “start over” with her three kids.
Unfortunately, our Canadian Immigration Authority has decreed a different fate for Morufat’s family – more in line with the fatwa. They have issued a deportation order.Morufat, Victor, Hephzibah, and Rejoice are being forced to leave Canada and return to Nigeria – and this could happen any day!
This is a very strange thing, indeed! Morufat’s family is self-supporting. Morufat has a job. Her son Victor works part-time to help. The family is a beloved part of their local community in Southern Ontario. They are involved in local volunteer endeavours and church life. Victor won an award for being an exemplary grade ten student in his local school.
This is the type of family we should be welcoming to Canada – not turning away. So, what’s wrong?
Justin Trudeau has said: “The fact is Canadians understand that immigration, that people fleeing for their lives, that people wanting to build a better life for themselves and their kids is what created Canada, it’s what created North America.”
Despite these lofty words, it is the Trudeau government’s Immigration Authority that is deporting Morufat’s family.
Trudeau is happy to let in ISIS militants and unleash them onto Canadian society. He is happy to pay out $10.5 million to Islamic terrorist Omar Khadr. But when it comes to one hardworking, persecuted Christian family, will he just turn his back on them?
As a result of this heartbreaking situation, a local non-profit youth ministry – Rose City Kids – has started up a CitizenGO petition to try to get the deportation order for Morufat’s family cancelled.
Trudeau’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship has publicly boasted that he has helped approximately 327,000 immigrants find homes. Will they not help this special Christian family?
