This morning, a serious incident happened in Judea and Samaria when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at an Israeli vehicle with a couple inside that was traveling near Gush Etzion. The vehicle caught fire, the woman was moderately wounded, and her husband was lightly injured. They were both evacuated to Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem Hospital to receive medical treatment.
Many police officers arrived to the scene of the crime to investigate the circumstances of the event and started to conduct searches for the people that threw the Molotov cocktail. David Pearl, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, warned this morning of an escalation that may cause the death of Israeli citizens. “It is only a miracle that today did not start with a funeral of our residents that were injured in a terrorist attack,” he stated.
Pearl criticized the Israeli government following the release of Palestinian terrorists from Israeli jails, which he emphasized encourages terrorists to continue to operate against Israeli targets. “Which government ministers can wash their hands and say that they didn’t shed blood? What else needs to happen to internalize that we don’t have someone to make peace with?” He added, “I call upon the Israeli Prime Minister to get a grip and to stop participating in shows that bring terror to our homes and to stop the lawlessness!”
This event occurred in the background of a series of incidents last week. Yesterday, a terrorist tried to stab a Border Guard standing at a security checkpoint at the entrance to Bethlehem. The terrorist was shot and killed after he approached the Border Guard with a knife. Earlier on, a Palestinian was shot and killed after he shot his pistol near them. Initial investigations reveal that the Palestinian’s fire was aimed at a bus stop located near the IDF soldiers who shot him.
